Testing Services Offered

Testing services include DLPT, DLAB, and AFCT testing for eligible military personnel.

Available Tests

Defense Language Proficiency Test (DLPT)

Assesses current proficiency in a specific foreign language using reading and listening components.

  • Used for language pay, validating language skill levels, or meeting MOS requirements.
  • Taken after studying or already knowing a foreign language.
  • May qualify for college credit.

Defense Language Aptitude Battery Test (DLAB)

Evaluates potential for acquiring a foreign language through audio-based and logic-focused testing.

  • Required for language-dependent MOS applications.
  • Predicts aptitude, not actual language proficiency.

Armed Forces Classification Test (AFCT)

Serves as an ASVAB retake for currently serving military personnel.

  • MOS reclassification.
  • Qualify for special programs such as OCS or WOCS.
  • Improve a prior ASVAB score.
  • Meet promotion or commissioning requirements.

Army Personnel Testing Manual

Please review the testing manual before submitting a request. Sister-service testing requests may require additional steps. Requests submitted without prior authorization or that do not follow the Testing Manual may not be approved.

Register to Take a Test

You must upload a DA 4187. Select the form below that best meets your testing needs.
All tests must include a DA 4187 signed by the Unit Commander. Submit the form no later than two weeks before the scheduled test date. Walk-ins cannot be accommodated.
Once submitted, your DA 4187 will go through review. Your appointment is not complete until you receive an email confirmation.
