Media wishing to cover the re-enactments are invited to do so beginning at 11:00 a.m. or 2:00 p.m. and must arrive 30 minutes before the show to allow for parking and coordination.

Camp Mabry is accessed at the Maintenance Drive gate from 35th Street and media will be required to show
credentials at the gate.

World War II Re-enactment Kick off Saturday, Ends Sunday
CAMP MABRY, Texas (Nov. 5, 2013) - Close Assault 1944 is scheduled to kick off Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013, and conclude Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013, at Camp Mabry, to honor the service and sacrifice of America's veterans and focus on the history of the 36th Infantry Division of the Texas Army National Guard during World War II. Show times are at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. both days.
The free program is now on its seventh year, features members of the Texas Military Forces Living History Detachment exhibiting the uniform and equipment worn by the American GI in the European Theater od the Second World War, as well as those of his German opponent. In addition, the two-day event will provide guests the opportunity to witness firing demonstrations of the most famous U.S. and German small arms of World War II, as well as see everything from tents and radio equipment to GI baseball gloves ans mess kits and operational vehicles such as an M4 Sherman Tank, M3 Halftrack and Jeeps.
The museum will also be offering a sneak peak of its new 2,600 square-feet exhibit on the history of the Texas Military Forces in the 19th century. This exhibit will feature more than 100 artifacts and 28 historic flags from the Texas Revolution, the Texas Republiv, the Texas Navy, the American Civil War and the Spanish-American/Philippine-American Wars. The formal ceremony opening the exhibit is scheduled on Monday, Nov. 11, at 1 p.m.
The event will take place rain or shine and bleachers will be available for seating. Camp Mabry is open to the public and adults only need to show a valid photo ID, such as a driver's License or a military ID, to enter.
