TXARNG Medical Command is dedicated to improving State Medical Readiness by providing medical and dental evaluations and services required to maintain Soldier and unit readiness. Medical Command has four Soldier Medical Readiness Center (SMRC) locations across the state (Ellington Field near Houston, Camp Bullis near San Antonio, Grand Prairie in the Dallas FT Worth metroplex and Camp Mabry in Austin).
Currently, individuals can affect their own medical readiness posture by scheduling an appointment at any of the SMRCs Monday through Friday and during Medical Command drill weekends. Dental appointments are limited to the availability of dental personnel although dental exam requirements may also be updated by submitting a DD 2813 signed by a civilian dentist.
Soldiers may also have PHAs and Dental exams conducted through the Reserve Health Readiness Program (RHRP voucher), contracted unit events or at active duty facilities. Appointments are scheduled through the Office of the State Army Surgeon (OSArS) with a minimum requirement of 45 days notice.
