Range Details and Firing Requirements

Review the authorized uses, firing points, weapon systems, ammunition, range-denial conditions, and firing restrictions for each Camp Swift range.

Unit Firing Requirements

  • RSO/OIC training dates.
  • Dawn and dusk fire times. Normal firing hours are 0730–1630. Firing after 1630 must be requested in writing.
  • Tracer requests.
  • Co-use agreements.
  • Special considerations.
MPMG Range
Primary Use
.50 caliber, M240B, M249, and MK-19 qualifications.
Secondary Use
Moving Infantry Target for advanced marksmanship.
Firing Points
8 total; 4 for .50 caliber and MK-19.
Targets
Solar and non-solar SITs, solar MITs, 4-by-4 target frames, and stationary non-animated armor targets.
Authorized Weapon Systems
M2 .50 caliber, M240B, M249, MK-19, M16 series, M4 series, M9, and M60.

Range Denial

No personnel will be present on this range when the Demolition Range or Hand Grenade Familiarization Range is in use for .50-caliber and 7.62-millimeter firing.

  • Day and night fire are authorized.
  • Fire only in dedicated lanes.
  • Wildlife may be present on the range.

Automated Rifle Range — ARF

25-meter zero.
Secondary Use
Distance and grouping and advanced rifle marksmanship.
Firing Points
34 lanes.
Targets
4-foot-by-3-foot zeroing frames and 6-foot-by-6-foot lifters.
Authorized Weapon Systems
M16 series, M4 series, M9, and M24.
Authorized Ammunition
5.56 ball/tracer, 7.62 ball/tracer, 9 millimeter, and civilian ammunition up to .300 Winchester Magnum.

Range Denial

No personnel will be present when the Non-Standard Range is being used past the 25-meter line, or when the Demolition Range or Live Hand Grenade Range is in use.

Range Denial

Use of the Demolition Range shuts down MPMG, KD, ARF, Zero, and Blackwell Drop Zone. No personnel will be present when those ranges are operating.

Firing Restrictions and Limitations

  • Wildlife may be present.
  • Maximum demolition limit is 42.5 pounds.
  • No variations are authorized without an approved waiver from Training Site Headquarters.
