About the TMD Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Office

Texas Military Department Sexual Assault Prevention and Response (SAPR) office

PURPOSE AND SCOPE: TMD SAPR provides advocacy and support services to assist Texas Army/Air National Guard Service Members, Texas State Guard Service Members, and DoD civilian employees of TMD in reporting incidents of sexual assault. Program staff and certified Victim Advocates assists in linking TMD Service Members to medical, legal, and mental health services in their military and civilian communities.

MISSION: The TMD SAPR Office is committed to eliminating incidents of sexual assault by instituting a comprehensive policy that focuses on increasing awareness through prevention and education, survivor-centered support, intimidation free reporting, thorough investigation and accountability for those who commit sexual assault crimes.

•  When to call the TMD SAPR Support Line 

  1. TMD SAPR Survivor Support Line: 512-565-4410
  2. If you or someone you know believes they have been sexually harassed or assaulted. 
  3. If you are coping with stress, concerned, worried and not sure what to do or just need someone to talk to.
  4. If you are a Commander and an allegation of sexual harassment or assault has been reported to you directly or indirectly. If you would like information about counseling or other community resources.
  5. When calling the TMD SAPR Support Line directly at 512-565-4410, voicemails will be returned within the hour. We will try to return calls as soon as possible, but must account for being with other callers and/or attempting to manage multiple calls at one time. The SAPR team will rotate on-call and be available to answer calls on this line 24/7- 365 days of the year!

•  What to do if you are in crisis? 

If you believe you have been sexually assaulted, we encourage you to take the following steps:

  • Get to a SAFE PLACE away from the perpetrator
  • Call 911 if you are in danger and need immediate assistance 
  • Go to your local hospital emergency room
  • Call a SAFE person (reporting to your Chain of Command can affect confidentiality) Who are safe people?

SAPR FAQs

Who can file a report with the SAPR Office?

  • Texas National Guard (Army/Air) Service Members
  • DoD Federal Civilian Employees
  • All other TMD employees (State Employees) will be offered information and resources on how to report to the appropriate local Law Enforcement and/or State Agency.

Is there a time limit for reporting?

  • We encourage anyone who has been harassed or assaulted to seek help as soon as possible.
  • There is no statute of limitations for DoD reporting for Service Members and DoD Civilians.
  • Texas State laws for reporting time limits vary, contacting our office or your local Police Dept for specific details.

What Survivor support services are offered?
