Texas National Guard’s 36th Infantry Division Band to begin summer concert series

AUSTIN, Texas (June 24, 2015) – Members of the 36th Infantry Division Band, Texas Army National Guard, will kick off its summer concert series at the Brookdale Senior Living Facility in Austin, today.

The tour is part of the band’s annual training and will include performances in Austin, Pflugerville, Leander, Lakeway, Bastrop, Kemah, Galveston, and San Marcos, to name a few. All of the performances are free to the public, with the exception of the performance at the Dell Diamond in Round Rock on July, 4, 2015. 

The “Lone Star Band” is the premier musical organization of the Texas Army National Guard and a recipient of the Col. George S. Howard Citation of Musical Excellence, a prestigious international award recognizing military concert bands. 

Under the command of Chief Warrant Officer 3 Jeffrey L. Lightsey, the band is composed of more than 50 Soldiers serving in the Texas Army National Guard. The band is also made up of multiple performing ensembles, including the award-winning concert band, Jazz big band, Jazz combo, Rock band, and a Tejano band. Additional performance groups include a ceremonial brass band, brass quintet, and a clarinet choir.

The 36th Infantry Division Band can be seen throughout the state of Texas and surrounding areas participating in military functions and ceremonies, patriotic holidays, parades, and other community functions. A full schedule of the band’s summer concert series can be downloaded here.
