Texas National Guard Soldiers Deploy to Kuwait
CAMP MABRY, Texas (Feb. 25, 2013) - The Texas Army National Guard's 36th Infantry Division is scheduled to bid goodbye and good luck to its 449th Aviation Support Battalion, on wednesday, Feb 27 at 10:30 a.m., as the battalion mobilizes to Kuwait in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. The Deployment ceremony is slated to be held at the Austin Army Aviation Support Facility in Austin, Texas, near Austin-Bergstrom International AIrport.
Once mobilized, their expected mission will be to provide aviation maintenance and ground support to the Texas Army National Guard's 36th Combat Aviation Brigade, which has already begun a deployment to Kuwait. The 449th Aviation Support Battalion headquarted in San Antonio is made up of approximately 260 soldiers, with the majority of the soldiers calling Central Texas their home.
