Media is invited to cover the Texas Strong Warrior Competition Saturday, APril 26, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. All media must report to the Camp Bowie Training Center, 5611 FM 45 South, Brownwood, TX 76801, and will require a media escort to the event site.

Members of the media are required to RSVP no later than Wednsday, April 11th, 2014, by 5 p.m. with the Texas NAtional Guard Recruiting and Retention Marketing Department and will be required to show credentials.

Texas National Guard New Recruits Compete for Texas Strong Best Warrior

CAMP MABRY, Texas (April 2, 2014) -  The Texas Army National Guard Recruiting Sustainment Program will host a media day at the Camp Bowie Training Center in Brownwood, Texas, Saturday, April 26, 2014, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., as more than 600 TXARNG Soldiers from across the state compete in team exercises designed to test basic military skills.

The competition will feature teams of six Soldiers working together perform basic military skills in a high-stress, high-tempo environment. Each team will have four hours to complete a foot march and navigate a course while being tested on common skills, such as reacting to an ambush and performing first aid.  

The Texas Strong Best Warrior Competition is an event designed for all new recruits of the Texas Army National Guard currently waiting to attend basic training. The purpose is to develop warrior ethos, build confidence, teamwork and espirit de corps in future leaders. Each new recruit will compete against others for the title of “Texas Strong Best Warrior.”

Media wishing to follow a Soldier from their area or participate is invited to attend from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  All members of the media in attendance will be provided a specific time during the day to report. This time will be provided no later than April 18, 2014. Additional media instructions are available on the attached invitation.
