Texas National Guard Mobilized to Assist in West Explosion Response

CAMP MABRY, Texas (April 18, 2013) - More than 20 members of the Texas National Guard's 6th Civil Support Team, headquartered here, have been activated by Gov. Rick Perry and have mobilized to assist federal, state and local partners respond to the fertilizer plant explosion in West, Texas, April 17, 2013.
 
The mission of 6th Civil Support Team is to asses hazars, advise civil authorities, and facilitate military support during emergencies and other disasters. Additional search and extraction, and command and control capabilities from the Texas NAtional Guard's Homeland Response Force (HRF) remain on0alert and are ready to assist, if needed.
