FOR IMMEDIATE PUBLIC RELEASE:
Texas Military Department Open House Media Day
AUSTIN, Texas (April 14, 2016) – The Texas Military Department Open House featuring the American Heroes Show invite members of the media to a preview day, on Friday, April 15, 2016 at Camp Mabry in Austin, Texas.
Media are invited to meet with and interview members of the Texas Military and the Austin Police Department from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. and learn more about the weekend’s events and the significance of this year’s theme, “Honoring Our Heroes” in front of the Traveling Vietnam Wall.
At 10 a.m., media will receive the opportunity to witness the Texas Army National Guard Parachute team and helicopter crews in action, as soldiers will take part in the final rehearsals alongside their partner first responder aviation teams, weather dependent.
This year’s theme, “Honoring Our Heroes,” is designed to honor and recognize those that went before us, as well as, those serving alongside us whether in the military or our partner first responders. Furthermore, the open house serves as an interagency training exercise that allows the Texas National Guard to demonstrate their roles and capabilities and give back to its citizens.
The free two-day event will be open to the public from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 16-17, 2016. For complete information, event schedule and map, visit the Texas Military Department’s website at www.tmd.texas.gov/tmd-open-house.
