Texas Guardsmen Mobilized in Support of Winter Weather Response
AUSTIN, Texas (Feb. 23, 2022) –The Texas Military Department mobilized numerous service members and tactical vehicles in support of the state’s winter storm response, Feb. 23, 2022.
Service members are poised to provide support in Texas cities threatened by extreme winter conditions. Working in support of the Texas Division of Emergency Management and in collaboration with the Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Guardsmen are providing assistance to first responders as needed.
“Our Guardsmen continue to support our communities whenever called,” said Maj. Gen. Tracy Norris, the adjutant general of Texas. “Throughout the winter season, our personnel and equipment are always ready to support our neighbors in need. Whether along the state’s highways or along the border in support of Operation Lone Star, we’re Texans serving Texas.”
