Why Seek a Counselor?
Promoting Emotional Wellness, Resiliency, and Readiness
Seeking counseling is a proactive step toward maintaining mission readiness and personal resilience. Service members face unique challenges—both in and out of uniform—and counseling provides a confidential space to navigate those experiences.
Some individuals seek counseling to address specific concerns, while others are encouraged by leadership, peers, or medical providers. Whatever the reason, engaging in therapy demonstrates strength, self-awareness, and a commitment to growth.
Working together, the counselor and service member identify personal goals and create a plan for achieving them. Counseling not only addresses the immediate concern—it also supports long-term emotional wellness, strengthens relationships, enhances coping skills, and reinforces readiness for both personal and professional challenges.
