MG Roger O Sheridan

 

 

Major General Roger O. Sheridan serves as the Commander of the State Guard. The State Guard assists state and local authorities in response to state emergencies and natural disasters. Additionally, they support border security efforts and community service activities. The State Guard key missions include supporting the Texas State Operations Center, liaison officer field support, engineering assistance, the Texas Emergency Tracking Network, Shelter support, ground search and recovery/rescue, flood water operations, interoperable communication packages, mobile towers, the joint cyber team, medical staging and medical reception.

General Sheridan graduated from Sam Houston State University in 1988 with a bachelor’s degree in political science and was commissioned in the United States Marine Corps. He served 21 years in the Marine Corps and Marine Corps Reserve before retiring in 2009. Throughout his service with the Infantry, he deployed in support of Operations DESERT SHIELD, DESERT STORM, IRAQI FREEDOM and RESTORE HOPE. General Sheridan later joined the Texas State Guard in 2012 where he has served as the Chief of Staff for the Maritime Regiment, T-3 Operations Officer, and Brigade Commander of the 6th Brigade.

General Sheridan resides in Bryan, Texas and is employed as the Deputy Director for the Brazos Valley Council of Governments since 2021.
