Longtime Round Rock Resident Promoted to Army Brigadier General

CAMP MABRY, Texas (April 26, 2014) - The Adjutant General of Texas, Maj. Gen. John F. Nichols, is pleased to announce the promotion of Army National Guard Col. Patrick M. Hamilton, Commander Domestic Operations to the rank of Brigadier General in the Texas Army National Guard (TXARNG).

In a ceremony at Camp Mabry, in Austin, Texas, April 26, 2014, Hamilton thanked the command group, his friends and family for their continued support over the years and their trust to allow him to serve his state and nation.

"I am honored to lead such an incredible group of Citizen-Soldiers," said Hamilton. "These men and women are the epitome of what the Texas MNilitary Forces stands for, as they are always ready to serve their fellow citizens during a time of need."

A native Texan and son of a career Army Officer, Hamilton recevied his comission through ROTC at Texas A&M University in 1986, attending the Cavalry Officer BAsic Course at Fort KNox, Kentucky. Assigned to the 1st Squadron, 124th Cavalry, 49th Armored Division in Waco, Hamilton served in various positions and took part in the Division's Historic deployment to Bosnia in 2000.

Since, Hamilton has serves in Operation Noble Eagle, where he was assigned security missions, and deployed to Afghanistan in 2008 as the Red Team Leader for the 101st Airborne Division and Combined Joint Task Force 101 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Prior to his current role as Commander of Domestic Operations, Hamilton served as the Chief of Staff to the Texas Adjutant General.

Hamilton and his wife, Beverly, have been married for 26 years and have three children. As residents of Round Rock, they attend the Round Rock Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder. Hamilton is also a member of the Round Rock Rotary Club and Round Rock VFW Post 9078. He is a member of the Association of the United States Army, the National Guard Association of the United States, the National Guard Association of Texas and the Texas A&M Association of Former Students Century Club.
