ROUTE DESCRIPTION:

The Camp Mabry 5K Route is a  USATF-certified open course. Camp Mabry is the operational headquarters for all Texas Military Department units; therefore, the road network must remain open during all 5K run/walk events.

All participants will be required to present a government-issued photo identification card for main gate entry to Camp Mabry. Minors without a government-issued photo identification card must remain in direct care and supervision of an adult at all times.

ROUTE RESERVATION REQUESTS:

All requests to use the Camp Mabry Road Network must be approved in writing by the Camp Mabry Garrison Commander.

Outside agencies may coordinate with Camp Mabry Garrison Command for the usage of Picnic Areas and other facilities.

We encourage event organizers to CHECK THE EVENT CALENDAR BEFORE submitting an event reservation request.

Once you have determined a date and reviewed our calendar for availability, please submit a request. Please know all requests will be reviewed for approval. A confirmation email/phone call will be sent to requesting parties as quickly as possible.

While we make every effort to support as many requests as possible throughout the year, mission and training requirements always come first and, therefore, support for approved events may not always be possible.

Fishing Permits

Camp Mabry Fishing Permits are issued in the Garrison Command Headquarters (Building 64) between the hours of 0800-1600, Monday-Friday (except Holidays)

 

The following items are required to issue a Camp Mabry fishing permit:

  • A valid fishing license (Fishing license information)
  • A valid state driver's license or military ID
  • $15 fee for fishing permit, if applicable.* Cash or checks only. Credit cards are not accepted.

 

*This fee is waived for current members of the Texas Army National Guard, Texas Air National Guard, and Texas State Guard, as well as current TMD State Employees.

 

You will be required to sign a document acknowledging the following regulations:

  • Permit is required on person at all times.
  • Fishing hours are 30 minutes after sunrise until 30 minutes after sunset.
  • Fishing will be by Rod and Reel or Pole
  • There will be no TROT LINES, THROW LINES or BOTTLE LINES allowed. All fishing tackle will be removed after fishing. No Live Bait.
  • All trash, to include cans and cigarette butts, will be removed before leaving the pond area. Trash will not be thrown into the pond. All glass containers are prohibited. Place all trash in the nearest dumpster.
  • Catch and release only.
  • No boats or floating devices allowed on the waterway.
  • No night fishing.
