Those media wishing to cover the fishing derby are welcome to do so at Camp Mabry from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and must contact the event representative below to coordinate a time and location. 

Members of the media are required to RSVP no later than Friday, January 13, 2017, by 4 p.m. with Cat Cude at 512-915-9248, or email at Catherine.cude.nfg@mail.mil.

Camp Mabry is accessed at the Maintenance Drive gate from 35th Street. Media will be required to show credentials at the gate.

Camp Mabry to hold Youth Fishing Derby Saturday

AUSTIN, Texas (Jan. 11, 2017)- The Texas Army National Guard’s Environmental Program and Camp Mabry are hosting the 3rd Annual Youth Fishing Derby, Jan. 14th from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the lower pond at Camp Mabry, in Austin, Texas. This event is free for youth ages 16 and younger.

The event is open to military and civilian families and will provide visitors a fun day of fishing for Rainbow Trout! Don’t have a fishing pole? No problem, both tackle and poles will be available for those needing one.

The Texas Army National Guard environmental program is partnering with Texas Parks and Wildlife, U.S. Fish and Wildlife, Boy Scout Troop 345 and the National Civilian Conservation Corps for this event. In addition to fishing, there will be many other fun and educational activities for your children to engage in.

Participants are welcome to bring their own lunch, however food vendors will be onsite for those wishing to purchase it.
