Camp Mabry is accessed at the Maintenance Drive gate from 35th Street and media will be required to show credentials at the gate. Camp Mabry Living History Weekend Battle Reenactments Kick off Saturday, Ends Sunday

 

AUSTIN, Texas (April 18 – 19, 2026) - Take a stroll through Texas Military History at Camp Mabry’s Living History Weekend on Saturday April 18 and Sunday April 19. This free event, hosted by the Texas Military Forces Museum, will allow visitors to see uniforms, equipment, weapons, tents, gear, military vehicles and more dating from the earliest days of the Texas Militia through the end of the Cold War. Guests will learn about the role played by Texas soldiers in the Texas Revolution, Mexican War, Civil War, the Spanish-American War, World War I, World War II and Vietnam Conflicts, as well as get a glimpse of the uniforms, weapons and equipment used by enemy forces. Dozens of operational historic military vehicles including jeeps, tanks, halftracks, trucks and weapons carriers will be one hand. Living history camps and vehicle displays open at 9 a.m. and highlights of each day will include weapons demonstrations at 11:30 a.m. and a full-scale World War II battle reenactment at 1 p.m. each. The 26,000 square-foot Texas Military Forces Museum and its impressive display of artifacts, tanks, helicopters, jets, weapons, uniforms and more will be open to the public each day as well.

Admission and parking for the event and the museum are free. Snacks and souvenirs will be available along with plenty of bleacher seating. Guests should come prepared for the sun or rain. Camp Mabry is open to the public; vehicle operators will need a valid driver’s license to come on post and all adults must show a valid photo ID to enter Camp Mabry.
