Media wishing to cover the band hall ribbon cutting ceremony are invited to do so beggining at 9:00 a.m., and must

arrive 30 minuntes before the ceremony to allow for parking and coordination.
Members of the media are required to RSVP no later than Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, by 5:00 p.m. with the 36th Infantry

Camp Mabry is accessed at the Maintenance Drive gate from 35th Street and media will be required to show 
credentials at the gate.

Award Wining Texas Guard Band Opens New Facility

CAMP MABRY, Texas (Dec. 4, 2013) - On Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013, the 36th Infantry Division Band, Texas Army National Guard, will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony officially opening its new state of the art Army Band Hall at Camp Mabry in Austin, Texas.

The "Lone Star Band" is the premier musical organization of the Texas Army National Guard and a recipient of the Col. George S. Howard Citation of Musical Excellence, a prestigious international award recognizing military concert bands.

Under the command of Warrant Officer Jeffrey Lightsey, the band is composed of more than 60 soldiers serving in the Texas Army National Guard. The band is also made up of varying performing ensembles, including the award-winning Concert Band, Jazz Big Band, Jazz Combo, Rock Band, Latin Band, and Tejano Banf, as well as smaller groups such as the Ceremonial Brass Band, Brass Quintet, Clarinet Choir, and Flute Trio.

The 36th Inf. Div. Band can be seen throughout the state of Texas and surrounding areas participating in military functions and ceremonies, patriotic holidays, parades and professional sporting events.
