Media wishing to cover the arrival of the AVTT traveling wall are invited to do so beginning around 10:30 a.m. and must arrive at 10:00 to allow for parking and coordination.
Members of the media are required to RSVP no later than Thursday, April 19, 2018, by 9 a.m. with the state public affairs office at 512-782-5620 or email at ng.tx.txarng.mbx.pao@mail.mil.
Camp Mabry is accessed at the Maintenance Drive gate from 35th Street. Media will be required to show credentials at the gate.

Traveling Vietnam Memorial to Arrive in Austin
AUSTIN, Texas (April 18, 2018) – In preparation of the Texas Military Department’s annual open house, the AVTT Traveling Wall, will be making its way through Austin to Camp Mabry with a police escort. Motorcyclists from Rally for Honor will also help escort the wall to Camp Mabry.
The wall is an 80 percent replica of the Vietnam War Memorial in Washington D.C. and will remain on display Saturday and Sunday, April 21-22, 2018 during the annual open house which is held in conjunction with the American Hero’s Airshow at Camp Mabry.
This year the Traveling Wall will also feature additional panels that honor those men and women who died in support of the Global War on Terror.
“We are honored to be hosting the Traveling Wall again this year,” said Lt. Col. Paul Mancuso, Camp Mabry Garrison Commander. “It is always a meaningful thing for both Vietnam veterans and those veterans that have come after them.”
The free two-day event will feature military equipment static displays, a helicopter show, parachute jump team, the Traveling Vietnam Wall, a World War II reenactment, local first responder demonstrations, and many other events.
