Ari Peñalosa Mammen holds licenses as a Marriage and Family Therapist and a Licensed Professional Counselor. She has a Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from St. Mary’s University and is a member of the San Antonio Association of Relational Therapists. Trained as a family systems counselor Ari has experience in understanding the complex relational challenges that her clients face. She also utilizes solution focused and cognitive behavioral therapy, as well as mindfulness approaches to help clients challenge unhealthy ways of coping and thinking about the issues in their life.
She’s been in practice for the past 10 years and has devoted her professional career to working with various non-profit organizations in her community that empowered youth and families through mental health awareness, education, child abuse, and domestic violence prevention. For the past 5 years, Ari has worked with Active duty service members and their families as a Military and Family Life counselor. The stepdaughter of an Air Force Service Member, Ari spent part of her childhood as a military child. These experiences provided her with first hand understanding of the unique challenges of military life and motivated her to work with the armed forces. Now part of the Texas Military Department Counseling program, Ari continues her professional commitment to service members by providing counseling support to the brave women and men of the Texas National Guard.
