Texas Guardsmen Mobilize in Support of Texas Floods
AUSTIN, Texas (May 2, 2019) – At the request the Texas Governor, members of the Texas Military Department were mobilized in support of possible severe weather and flooding in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Initial response crews mobilized to Dallas on May 1, 2019.
Currently, three water operations/boat teams, from the Texas State Guard, remain prepositioned on standby in the area to assist with any emergency and/or water search and rescues as a result of possible severe weather this week.
“This is what we train for,” said Lt. Col. Laura S. Cross, state public affairs officer, Texas Military Department. “And we’re proud to stand beside our civilian partners, first responders and volunteers to serve the citizens of Texas.”
